Ljubljana

Ljubljana is a relatively small town. It is super easy to walk through the historical centre. You will not need any transportation, except from the funicular, to get up to the castle, the main attraction of the city.

Liubliana é uma cidade relativamente pequena. É super fácil de caminhar pelo centro histórico. Vocês não vão precisar de nenhum transporte, a não ser do funicular, para subirem até ao castelo, a principal atração da cidade.

But before visiting the city, the first image that came to my mind was that of three bridges and a church in shades of pink. This is the Presernov trg Square. There we find a Franciscan church built in 1660, in baroque style. When I visited it a mass was taking place and I did not resist and recorded a bit, because I found the songs and the language very beautiful. Initially there was only a wooden bridge in the square, which separated the city from the old suburb. After a fire in 1657, another bridge was built, also in wood. Only in 1842 a stone bridge was built here, and only in the 30’s the other two bridges were built, destined for pedestrians.

Mas, antes de visitar a cidade, a primeira imagem que me vinha à cabeça era a de três pontes e uma igreja em tons de rosa. Essa é a Praça Presernov trg. Aí encontramos uma igreja franciscana construida em 1660, em estilo barroco. Quando a visitei estava a decorrer uma missa e eu não resisti e gravei um pouco, pois achei os cânticos e a lingua muito bonitos. Inicialmente apenas existia nessa praça uma ponte de madeira, que separava a cidade do antigo suburbio. E, depoisde um incêndiono ano de 1657 construiu-se outra ponte, também em madeira. Só em 1842 se construiu aqui uma ponte de pedra, e apenas na década de 30 se construiram as outras duas pontes, destinadas a peões.

In Mestni square, parallel to the river, there is a fountain and the town hall. To climb to the castle, on top of a hill, about 70 m above the town, we have to take the funicular. If you have enough energy and if you want to walk up you can also do so. There are several paths, with incredible views over the city.

Na praça Mestni, paralela ao rio, existe uma fonte e a câmara municipal. Para subirmos ao castelo, no topo de uma colina, a cerca de 70 m sobre a cidade, temos de apanhar o funicular. Se tiverem a energia suficiente e se quiserem subir a pé também o podem fazer. Existem vários caminhos, com vistas incríveis sobre a cidade.

The Medieval Castle was built over several centuries, and was renovated in 2006, becoming the cultural centre of the city. Here several open air events are held. When I visited it, the cinema was going to be transmitted, but the session was not included in the price of the castle. Therefore, I ended up not attending. Even so, for only 13 euros I could visit the puppet museum, an exhibition about the history of Slovenia, which reveals the history of the various castles in the country, the virtual castle exhibition as well as other temporary exhibitions. A fashion exhibition was held at the time. How lucky I am! I was simply fascinated by the quality of the fabrics and the originality of the cuts. Phenomenal!

O Castelo Medieval foi sendo construído ao longo de vários séculos, e foi renovado em 2006, transformando-se no centro cultural da cidade. Aqui fazem-se vários eventos ao ar livre. Quando o visitei ia transmitir-se cinema, mas a sessão não estava incluida no preço do castelo. Portanto, acabei por não assistir. Ainda assim, por apenas 13 euros pude visitar o museu das marionetas, uma exibição sobre a história da Eslovénia, que nos revela a história dos vários castelos do país, a exposição do castelo virtual, assim como outras exposições temporárias. Na altura decorria uma exposição de moda. Que sorte a minha! Fiquei simplesmente fascinada com a qualidade dos tecidos e a originalidade dos cortes. Fenomenal!

In the first travel video I showed you the castle of Ljubljana, which is on top of a hill. So although you can walk up there, the most recommended thing to do is to go up funicular. In this second video I want to show you a little more than I did in this small town.

No primeiro video de viagens eu mostrei-vos o castelo de Liubliana, que fica no topo de uma colina. Por isso apesar de poderem subir a pé até lá, o mais recomendado é subirem de funicular. Neste segundo vídeo quero-vos mostrar um pouco mais do que fiz nesta pequena cidade.

When I arrived I was finishing the day but it was still sunny. I was able to take some pretty pictures. But the next day the weather changed. Then, when I came down from the castle, the sky started to get very grey and it started to rain torrentially . So I ended up sheltering in a museum, in the National Gallery. It was a great option! I loved the museum. I found the paintings beautiful and classic, and the architecture of the building beautiful. It combines the classic with the modern and keeps here the original fountain of Robba or fountain of the three Carniolanos rivers. The replica is located in the city centre, in front of the town hall. This fountain represents the union between the various provinces that gave rise to Slovenia and the Slovenian rivers Ljubljanica, Sava and Krka.

Quando cheguei já estava a terminar o dia mas ainda estava sol. Deu para tirar algumas fotografias bem bonitas. Mas, no dia seguinte o tempo mudou. Então, quando desci do castelo, o céu começou a ficar bem cinzento e começou a chover torrencialmte. Portanto, acabei por me abrigar num museu, na Galeria Nacional. Foi uma ótima opção! Adorei o museu. Achei os quadros lindos e clássicos, e a arquitetura do edificio linda. Conjuga o clássico com o moderno e mantém aqui a fonte original de Robba ou fonte dos três rios Carniolanos. A réplica encontra-se no centro da cidade, em frente à câmara municipal. Esta fonte representa a união entre as várias provincias que deram origem à Eslovénia e os rios eslovenos Ljubljanica, Sava e Krka.

At the end of the day I took the opportunity to walk along the river, where you can find several restaurants and bars, as well as street entertainment. I passed by the well-known bridge of dragons, in new art style. Legend has it that the dragon waves his tail when this bridge is crossed by a virgin woman. Well, it seems like it hasn’t done so for a long time. Jokes aside, the truth is that the dragon is the symbol of this city. But there are many more bridges. The best known is the triple bridge in the main square, but there is also a more modern bridge dedicated to lovers. If you want to see the various bridges in the city, I advise you to take a boat tour on the river Ljubljana.

At the end of the video you will be able to see some of the tour I did. I also visited the street market, which was supposed to be a gastronomic market with author’s kitchen, but which was cancelled due to heavy rain. I only had a few stalls with fruit, vegetables, flowers and clothes. But what I found most interesting in this market was the milk machine of the day. I’ve never seen one like it anywhere before! So, as you can see, there are several reasons to visit Ljubljana!

Ao final do dia aproveitei para passear junto ao rio, onde se podem encontrar vários restaurantes e bares, assim como animação de rua. Passei pela conhecida ponte dos dragões, em estilo arte nova. Reza a lenda que o dragão acena a cauda quando esta ponte é atravessada por uma mulher virgem. Pois, parece que já não o faz há muito tempo. Piadas à parte, a verdade é que o dragão é o simbolo desta cidade. Mas, há muitas mais pontes. A mais conhecida é a ponte tripla na praça principal, mas existe também uma ponte mais moderna dedicada aos namorados. Se querem ver as várias pontes da cidade, aconselho-vos a fazerem um passeio turístico de barco pelo rio Liublianica.

No final do vídeo poderão ver um pouco do passeio que eu fiz. Visitei também o mercado de rua, que por ser sexta-feira deveria ser um mercado gastronómico com cozinha de autor, mas que foi cancelado devido à chuva intensa. Apenas tinha algumas bancas com frutas, legumes, flores e roupa. Ms, o que achei mais interessante neste mercado foi a máquina do leite do dia. Nunca tinha visto nenhuma assim em lado nenhum! Portanto, como podem ver, existem várias razões para visitarem Liubliana!
