Thun

• 

Thun é uma cidade bem pequenina no centro da Suíça, nas margens do rio Aar e do lago Thun.

É possível viajar de barco desde Interlaken, mas devido à falta de tempo para aproveitar o percurso, optei por ir de comboio, que me deixou mesmo no centro da cidade.

Thun is a very small town in central Switzerland, on the banks of the River Aar and Lake Thun.

It is possible to travel by boat from Interlaken, but due to the lack of time to enjoy the route, I chose to go by train, which left me right in the city centre.

Cheguei bem no final do dia e por isso não tenho muitas fotografias. Mas, ainda assim, tive a oportunidade de ver praticamente tudo o que esta cidade tem para oferecer! Acho que um dia é suficiente para verem e desfrutarem desta cidade com calma. 😉

I arrived well at the end of the day, so I don’t have many pictures. But I still had the opportunity to see practically everything this city has to offer! I think one day is enough for you to see and enjoy this city calmly. 😉

A zona histórica localiza-se na margem direita do rio Aar e tem imenso charme.

Hauptgasse é a rua comercial desta zona e é mesmo bonitinha. Os seus edifícios em dois níveis e as suas calçadas elevadas são únicas na Europa, pelo que para visitar grande parte das lojas tem de subir as escadinhas.

The historical area is located on the right bank of the River Aar and has a lot of charm.

Hauptgasse is the commercial street in this area and it’s really cute. Its two-level buildings and elevated sidewalks are unique in Europe, so to visit most shops you have to climb the stairs.

Deste lado do rio encontramos a câmara municipal, Rathaus, um edifício construído no século XVI, mesmo ao lado do hotel em que fiquei, o Hotel Rathaus.

On this side of the river we find the town hall, Rathaus, a building built in the 16th century, right next to the hotel where I stayed, the Rathaus Hotel.

Esta grande praça no centro de Thun para além de edifícios charmosos e com um estilo arquitectónico bem particular, como Rathaus e o hotel com o mesmo nome, tem uma fonte ao meio e uma vista priveligiada do castelo no topo da colina.

This large square in the centre of Thun, apart from charming buildings with a very particular architectural style, such as Rathaus and the hotel with the same name, has a fountain in the middle and a privileged view of the castle at the top of the hill.

Thun é uma cidade bem antiga, tendo sido fundada por volta de 1191, quando foi construído o castelo sobre a colina. Castelo este que se vê de todas as partes da cidade e que é a grande atracção turística da zona. Eu não o pude visitar por dentro pois em Janeiro apenas está aberto ao domingo.

Thun is a very old town, having been founded around 1191, when the castle was built on the hill. This castle can be seen from all parts of the city and is the great tourist attraction of the area. I couldn’t visit him inside because he’s only open on Sunday in January.

O rio Aare também é uma grande atracção e nas suas margens existem vários hotéis de luxo, cafés e restaurantes com agradáveis esplanadas, que na Primavera se enchem de flores.

The river Aare is also a great attraction and on its banks there are several luxury hotels, cafes and restaurants with pleasant esplanades, which in spring are filled with flowers.

Eu fiquei encantada com a claridade das suas águas, que apenas revela que aqui não há poluição e que há muito civismo e respeito pela natureza. Também aqui existe uma ponte de madeira, semelhante à de Lucerna. Aqui se produzem umas ondas que são utilizadas pelos surfistas para a prática da modalidade nos dias de calor.

I was delighted by the clarity of its waters, which reveals that there is no pollution here and that the population has a lot of civilisation and respect for nature. Here there is a wooden bridge, similar to Lucerne’s and there are some waves here that are used by surfers to practice the sport on hot days.

Eu aproveitei para passear na marginal ao anoitecer.

I took the opportunity to walk on the waterfront at dusk.

Caminhei até ao início do lago Thun (uma larga caminhada), onde existe um castelo do século XIX ao estilo dos castelos do Vale de Loire em França, Schloss Hünegg, já nos arredores da cidade. Os interiores são em art-noveau e aqui também existe um museu gastronómico. Mas, apenas o vi por fora pois em Janeiro está fechado ao público (inclusive estava em obras). A visita só é permitida de Maio a Outubro.

I walked to the beginning of Lake Thun (a long walk), where there is a 19th century castle in the style of the Loire Valley castles in France, Schloss Hünegg, already on the outskirts of the city. The interiors are in art-noveau and here there is also a gastronomic museum. But I only saw it from the outside because in January it is closed to the public. The visit is only allowed from May to October.

Por tudo isto, recomendo-vos visitar esta cidade entre Maio e Outubro. Ainda assim, deu para eu ter uma ideia do que Thun tem para oferecer aos seus visitantes, e foi um bom local estratégico para passar a noite antes de ir para Berna. É que em Berna os hotéis são caríssimos!!!

For all this, I recommend you visit this city between May and October. Still, it gave me an idea of what Thun has to offer its visitors, and it was a good strategic place to spend the night before going to Bern. Because in Bern the hotels are very expensive!!!
