Lucerna é uma cidade lindíssima, como não me canso de dizer, mas não é apenas pelo seu rio e pelas suas pontes de madeira. As ruas, os edifícios com as fachadas pintadas e as fontes ornamentadas no centro das praças conferem-lhe uma beleza sem igual, que faz desta a mais bonita de toda a Suiça.

Lucerne is a beautiful city, as I never tire of saying, but it is not only by its river and its wooden bridges. The streets, the buildings with their painted facades and the ornate fountains in the centre of the squares give it a unique beauty that makes it the most beautiful in all of Switzerland.

Eu fiquei a dormir num hotel mesmo no centro histórico da cidade, muito perto da câmara municipal, no Boutique Hotel Weisses Kreuz, que me permitiu deambular vezes sem fim pelas suas ruas e ruelas. No entanto, este hotel é apenas para adultos! Mas, se viajarem com crianças, têm muito mais opções aí perto.

I stayed asleep in a hotel right in the historic center of the city, very close to the town hall, at the Boutique Hotel Weisses Kreuz, which allowed me to wander endlessly through its streets and alleys. However, this hotel is for adults only! But if you travel with children, you have many more options nearby.

As ruas são quase todas pedonais e unem-se através de pequenas praças com fontes.

The streets are almost all pedestrian and join together through small squares with fountains.

Não fiz propriamente um roteiro organizado pelo centro histórico, e na verdade não acho que seja necessário, pois o centro é pequeno e a “piada” está em “deixar-se perder” por estas ruas e desfrutar o passeio.

I didn’t exactly make an itinerary organized by the historical center, and actually I don’t think it’s necessary, because the center is small and the “joke” is in “getting lost” in these streets and enjoying the ride.

Uma das principais praças da cidade é Weinmarkt, com várias casas histórica com as fachadas pintadas e uma fonte gótica ao centro, Weinmarktbrunnen. Mas esta é uma réplica, pois a original está no pátio do Ritterscher Palast, noutra rua.

One of the main squares in the city is Weinmarkt, with several historical houses with painted facades and a Gothic fountain in the center, Weinmarktbrunnen. But this is a replica, as the original is in the courtyard of the Ritterscher Palast, in another street.

Em Muhlenplatz (praça dos moinhos), já perto do rio, quase a chegar à Spreuerbrucke, há uma casa que se destaca por ter uns medalhões de um intenso dourado na sua fachada.

In Muhlenplatz (windmill square), already near the river, almost reaching Spreuerbrucke, there is a house that stands out for having some medallions of an intense gold in its facade.

A cidade velha, desde a idade média, é defendida a norte pela muralha, construída em 1386, e a este pela ponte da capela.

The old town, since the middle ages, is defended to the north by the wall, built in 1386, and to the east by the chapel bridge.

Eu só fiquei uma noite nesta incrível cidade e por isso não tive tempo de subir às muralhas nem visitar as suas torres. Mas, se tiverem mais tempo ou mais energia para subir recomendo vivamente a visita. Numa das torres têm um bonito relógio, como podem ver na fotografia, que foi construído em 1535. É mesmo antigo!

I only stayed one night in this incredible city and so I didn’t have time to climb the walls or visit its towers. But if you have more time or more energy to climb I strongly recommend the visit. One of the towers has a beautiful clock, as you can see in the picture, which was built in 1535. It’s really old!

Atravessei a ponte e dirigi-me ao outro lado da cidade ou cidade nova, Neustadt.

I crossed the bridge and headed for the other side of town or new town, Neustadt.

Deste lado da cidade, para além da igreja jesuíta, encontramos a igreja franciscana, Franziskanerkirche, que é ainda mais bonita.

On this side of the city, besides the Jesuit church, we find the Franciscan church, Franziskanerkirche, which is even more beautiful.

Esta igreja foi construída em 1270, mas devido às numerosas obras que sofreu, actualmente apresenta uma mistura de estilo: gótico, renascentista e barroco. As bandeiras no seu interior representam as várias batalhas vencidas na idade média. A entrada é gratuita.

This church was built in 1270, but due to the numerous works it has undergone, it now has a mixture of style: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. The flags inside represent the various battles won in the Middle Ages. Admission is free.
