Hey. Today I show you one of the most incredible natural beauties in the world, the Clifs of Moher.

As falésias, localizados a sudoeste do parque natural de Burren, são dos locais mais turísticos da Irlanda, sendo a reserva natural mais visitada do país.

The cliffs of Moher, located on the south-west coast of Ireland, near the Burren National Park, are one of the top visitor attractions in Ireland and the most visited nature reserve in the country.

As falésias estendem-se por cerca de 10 km e têm uma altura máxima de 214 metros. Estas são compostas por várias camadas de rocha cujos sedimentos se foram depositando naturalmente por mais de 300 milhões de anos, pelo que se consegue identificar a evolução geológica ao longo dos anos.

The cliffs range for 10 km over the Atlantic Ocean and have 214 m at the highest point. These are composed of several layers of rock whose sediments have been deposited naturally for more than 300 million years, so it is possible to identify the geological evolution over the years.

Nestas rochas nenhuma vegetação consegue crescer, apenas a mais resistente. Mesmo por debaixo do nível da água apenas crescem líquenes e algas marinhas. No topo das falésias o solo é predominantemente ácido e húmido, sendo pouco produtivo para a agricultura. Encontram-se aqui uma grande variedade de plantas selvagens.

In these rocks any vegetation can´t survive, only the hardiest ones. Just below the water level simply the lichens and marine algae grow. At the top of the cliffs, the soil is predominantly acidic and humid, and not productive for agriculture. A wide variety of wild plants are found here.

Pelo menos 8 espécies de aves marinhas habitam as arribas entre Fevereiro e Julho. Umas preferem o topo e outras o nível do mar. Talvez porque fui no final desse mês, não avistei nenhuma! ;(

At least 8 species of seabirds inhabit the cliffs between February and July. Some prefer the top and some prefer the sea level. Maybe because I went at the end of that month, I didn’t see any! ;(

Mas, achei super engraçado ver várias vaquinhas a pastar no topo das falésias.

But I thought it was so funny to see several cows grazing on top of the cliffs.

Neste local também encontram a torre de O´Brien, que poderão visitar pelo preço de 2 euros (não incluído no bilhete das falésias).

A visita às falésias tem um custo de 8 euros por pessoa se comprado o bilhete no local ou 4 euros se comprado antecipadamente pelo site. No entanto, o único local onde vos exigem o bilhete é no centro de visitas! (pelo menos quando eu fui) Ou seja, talvez consigam visitar de borla. 😉 Mas, tal não será possível se quiserem deixar o carro no parque do recinto (local onde vos cobram bilhete a todos os ocupantes de uma mesma viatura).

The visit of the cliffs has a cost of 8 euros per person if you buy the ticket locally and 4 euros if you buy it in advance at the site. However, the only place where the ticket is required is at the visitor centre! (at least when I went) So you can visit for free. 😉 But if you put the car in the park, all the occupants inside the vehicle will be charged a ticket. Let the passengers get out before and just the driver park the car.
